“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Every day I am in absolute awe of the complexity of life. In my work, I care for children (and their parents) with a variety of birth defects and metabolic conditions. Even when a child is born with severe, life-threatening problems, he or she is still a child of our wondrous God: fearfully and wonderfully made. God has a plan for each of us, whether we live for 100 years or for only one day. Each of us, no matter what our perceived physical imperfections, is an exquisite example of God’s handiwork.

DEAR LORD, WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDROUS CREATION
OF LIFE. WE ALSO THANK YOU FOR THE GLIMPSES THAT WE ARE
ALLOWED THAT CLARIFY OUR UNDERSTANDING OF HOW TRULY
WE ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE. HELP US TO SEE
AND LOVE EACH PERSON AS YOUR CHILD, AS YOU HAVE CREATED
THEM. AMEN.
