“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.”

I love the phrase “firmly rooted.” At our school, we have an oak tree over 240 years old. The roots spread out all over the playground, anchoring this mammoth tree. Without
these deep roots, the tree would snap in a strong wind. Our lives as Christians must follow this pattern. We must remember that strong roots take time to develop. So it is with
our faith. Each time we are tested, we put down new roots. Each scripture we read, each prayer we say, each praise we return to God, branches out another root. Each good deed
we do in the name of Jesus creates another. What roots are you growing today?

ALMIGHTY GOD, IN THE BEAUTY OF NATURE WE SEE THE TRUTH OF THE NEED FOR DEEP ROOTS. HELP US LORD, TO WORK HARD AT CREATING A STRONG FOUNDATION OF FAITH IN YOU, GIVE US STRENGTH TO WITHSTAND THE WINDS WHICH WOULD THREATEN TO BEND OR SNAP US. FOR WE PRAY THIS ALL IN THE NAME OF JESUS, YOUR SON, OUR SAVIOR. AMEN.
