The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha. You are worried and troubled over so many things, but just one is needed. Mary has chosen the right thing, and it will not be taken away from her.”
We live in an anxious world. People rush around to get things done, but often neglect what matters most. I am reminded of a verse written to the tune of “What a Friend We have in Jesus.” It goes like this: “Said the sparrow to the robin, ‘Friend, I’d really like to know, why these anxious human beings rush about and worry so.’ Said the robin to the sparrow, ‘Friend, I think that it must be, that they have no heavenly Father, such as cares for you and me.’”
GRACIOUS GOD, COME INTO OUR LIVES; FORGIVE US WHEN WE SOMETIMES LET TRIVIAL THINGS BECOME THE MOST IMPORTANT. CONVINCE US, THOSE WHO LEAD US AND THOSE OF US WHO ARE LED, THAT WHAT MATTERS MOST IS LOVE. AMEN.
