“Let no one underrate you because you are young, but be to believers an example in speech and behavior, in love, fidelity and purity.”

When I was in college, I had the opportunity to be a part of a Methodist sponsored camp called UM ARMY. We would go out in late July to little east Texas towns and build wheelchair ramps and rebuild porches and the like. I would dread going at first, because it was hot and humid, and we were outside for eight hours a day with no air conditioning. But when the week was over, I always wanted to stay and work some more. The people were so grateful for what we had done, even though none of us were professionals. Looking back on the experiences, I am astounded that so many youth and college students would give up their time and vacation to go and work under these conditions. It disturbs me that we live in a world where we must have metal detectors in high schools to protect students from each other, but I am reassured that there are still groups of young adults working for the greater good.

DEAR LORD, PLEASE HELP ME TO SET AN EXAMPLE IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE FOR OTHERS TO FOLLOW. AMEN.
