“Oh how happy is the woman who believes in God, for his promises to her came true.”

In May of 1976 this verse of scripture was on the cover of the Mother’s Day bulletin from what was then River Oaks Cumberland Presbyterian Church. I saved it and eventually decoupaged it on a plaque which hangs in my home. It reminds me of my mother’s “Promise Box.” It was a box that contained small scrolls of God’s promises from scripture. As a child, I remember pulling a scroll from the box to read. After I grew up and left home, Mother would pull a scroll and mail it to me whenever I was going through a difficult time. It was amazing how it was always the right scripture for the problem that I was experiencing. For instance, when I was having a financial problem, here came a scroll that said “Silver and gold is mine, saith the Lord.” What a comfort those scrolls were to me. I regret not saving them, because I know that with each one came a prayer for me.

THANK YOU GOD FOR SOMEONE WHO TAUGHT ME YOUR WONDERFUL PROMISES AND THAT THEY DO COME TRUE. AMEN.
