“Honor thy father and mother.”
When I was a young teenager, I participated in a Christian “flagpole” group that met before school. It was there that I met representatives from the local university’s Campus Crusade for Christ. When I asked my father to let me attend one of their meetings, he refused adamantly. Instead of obedience, I responded in rage and ran away. As I recall this, I can only think of how right he was in keeping me from associating with a much older group. He acted in love to protect me from myself.
YOU, FATHER, GIVE MY ELDERS STRENGTH AND VISION TO CARE FOR ME. LET ME HEAR YOUR VOICE THROUGH THEM AND GIVE ME HUMILITY TO ACCEPT THEIR GUIDANCE. AMEN.
