Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, “All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.”

We often go through life striving to achieve, to live our ideals, and our dreams. We consider material gains, fame and power as our lifetime reward and glory. We do not listen to, and we ignore God’s word. We rely mainly on our own knowledge and strength in going through life. We always put ourselves first and have little love for others. Apostle Peter reminds us that we should have humility and realize all worldly glories, gains, and possessions are perishable. Only the word of God is everlasting. As followers of Christ, we are purified and should live according to His word, caring for and loving one another.

DEAR LORD, PLEASE GIVE US STRENGTH, HUMILITY AND GUIDANCE TO LIVE OUR LIVES ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD. HELP US REALIZE THAT OUR TEMPORAL LIVES AND WHATEVER WE POSSESS ARE TRANSIENT, ONLY YOUR LOVE AND YOUR KINGDOM ARE EVERLASTING. AMEN.
