“For he makes his sun rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.”
During the past year or so, I have learned much about the second part of this scripture. But, although there have been rain and storms throughout my life, it does not mean that there have not been moments of sunshine so bright and warming that it seems to melt away those storms. As people, we tend to dwell on those times of darkness and turmoil, and are overcome by sadness and grief. In those moments, we need to turn to God for our strength, as hard as it can be to share our burdens with others. Sometimes it takes a lot of patience to wait for those sunrises, but, when they occur, they are usually worth the wait.
LORD, IN TIMES OF SADNESS AND TIMES OF JOY, YOU ARE WITH US. LET US NOT FORGET THAT, AND LET US NOT BE HESITANT TO LAY OUR BURDENS UPON YOU. MAY YOU STRENGTHEN US IN TIMES OF TROUBLE, AND SHARE IN OUR JOY IN TIMES OF PEACE. AMEN.
