Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid His hands on them and departed from there.

I asked my husband what was most important to him out of our time together so far … where did he see God at work most strongly? His immediate response, “our children.” We agreed that, no matter how different we may be individually, something changes within us when we consider our children. Their presence with us, even on the most trying day, is like experiencing moments of God. Life, through the eyes of our children, becomes simpler and takes on a different pace. Curiosity of the outside world, playing until exhausted, quiet laughter, great big belly laughs, a juicy piece of fruit, eating only the green beans, bath water everywhere but the bathtub… they teach us about living life by the moment.

O GOD, WE THANK YOU FOR THE WONDER OF YOUR DEEP LOVE MADE KNOWN TO US THROUGH YOUR GIFT OF OUR CHILDREN. THANK YOU FOR THE CONTINUING LIGHT OF GRACE MADE KNOWN TO US THROUGH YOUR SON, JESUS CHRIST. ALL GLORY, BLESSING, AND HONOR TO YOU, O LORD MOST HIGH. AMEN.
