“And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel.”

The Israelites prayed for relief from oppression and God sent a judge to guide them. This occurred a number of times through the book of Judges. After their lives were again calm, they would worship the Lord; however, they failed to teach their children and their children’s children and, eventually, there “arose another generation …who did not know the Lord.” Reading, writing, and arithmetic are important abilities for our children to learn so that they can lead productive lives in today’s society – actually, computer literacy should now be added to this list. But, to be truly productive, knowledge of the Father and the Son are vital. And we have to learn our lessons well so that we can teach the next generation, and the one after that, so they will know “the work which He had done.”

BE WITH US, LORD, AND GUIDE US. PUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE IN OUR HEARTS AND YOUR WORDS IN OUR MOUTHS SO THAT WE MIGHT TEACH OTHERS OF YOUR WONDROUS WORKS. AMEN.
