“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”

We live in a society where we are constantly planning for the future. We worry about paying the bills, college tuition, car payments, retirement, what trips to take, lunch with friends, gifts to buy, etc. I am afraid I am one of these people. Just last week I was so excited to get a new calendar for my day-planner so I could start planning more things. I think it is easy to get carried away in planning ahead. I believe it would be safe to say that some of us like to have everything planned so that we feel somewhat in control. It helps us not to worry about the future because we are controlling it; at least we think we are. Don’t get me wrong, there are some things that do require special planning. A couple of years ago, I went though a major growing process in my walk with the Lord. My life was not where I thought it was supposed to be. I was so worried about what had not happened. I found that through my worrying I wasn’t able to be happy with what I had and that my relationship with Jesus was suffering. You see, Jesus himself said the scripture above. If we are putting our whole trust in Him, we don’t need to worry about tomorrow. I heard a preacher once say that God is not I Was or I Will Be… He is I Am. Let’s not worry about the unknown but be happy with today. Let Jesus be in control and let Him worry for us.

FATHER, I COME BEFORE YOU NOW TO SAY THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO HAVE THIS DAY. THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE STRENGTH AND COURAGE I NEEDED TO FACE THE MANY OBSTACLES. I ASK THAT YOU BE WITH ME TOMORROW AS I FACE A NEW DAY. THANK YOU JESUS… AMEN.
