“The Lord will command His loving kindness in the daytime; And his song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life.”

The God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament, they are the same God. The Old Testament with the kingdoms fighting for power and land, the New Testament with the promise of the Kingdom of God. The Old Testament with the history of the people, the New Testament with the revelation of the Son of God. Then there are the Psalms. The Psalms are the bridge that helps me connect the Old to the New. When the Psalmist writes about the loving kindness of God, the comfort and trust that he finds in God, then I begin to share his experience with God. Then I begin to see yet another aspect of God. So when I read Psalm 42:8 not only will I be reminded one more time of the loving kindness of God but also of the prayer of praise that I can offer to the God of my life.

WE PRAISE YOU, FATHER, FOR THE LOVING GOD THAT YOU ARE, AND FOR THE PEACE YOU BRING TO US. AMEN.
