“Now as the ark of Yahweh entered the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul was watching from the window, and when she saw King David leaping and whirling round before Yahweh, the sight of him filled her with contempt.”

Michal did not understand the joy that David was expressing to God, and instead of trusting her husband and king, she assumed he was being crude. We don’t always understand the manner in which others minister, worship, or communicate with God. It is so easy to become divisive and contemptuous when we see others acting in ways that we would not behave. We all have specific gifts and strengths that can be used to further God’s kingdom. To be encouraging and edifying to each other, we must trust that human intentions can be transformed by God’s grace to become pleasing in God’s sight.

DEAR GOD, HELP ME RECOGNIZE THAT YOU CANNOT BE DEFINED BY MY PERSONAL PREFERENCES AND COMFORT. ALLOW ME TO SEE YOU IN SITUATIONS THAT I DON’T UNDERSTAND. GUIDE ME AS I GROW MORE ABLE TO EXPRESS JOY IN A VARIETY OF WAYS. IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN.
