“Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. . .”

WOW, The Whole Armor of God? I can’t put all of that on by myself! God does not expect you to! A soldier getting ready for battle could not put on his suit of armor by himself. He was assigned a person known as a “buckler.” The buckler would make sure the soldier’s armor fit properly so the soldier would not be injured during battle. Just as the soldier   needed help putting on his armor, so do we. We need to ask God every morning to be our “buckler,” to make sure our armor fits so nothing can penetrate it.

LORD GOD, I COME TO YOU THIS MORNING ASKING THAT YOU WILL BE MY BUCKLER, THAT YOU WILL PUT YOUR ARMOR ON ME, THAT YOU WILL GIRD MY LOINS WITH TRUTH. HELP ME WITH THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS; COVER MY FEET WITH PEACE. I NEED A SHIELD OF FAITH, A HELMET OF SALVATION, AND THE SWORD
OF THE SPIRIT WHICH IS YOUR WORD, GOD. I ASK THAT YOU KEEP MY ARMOR TIGHT AND MY SWORD SHARP AS I GO INTO BATTLE TODAY AS A SOLDIER OF CHRIST. AMEN.
