“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house….”
During my girlhood, I remember mama saying, “Somebody’s watching you!” It seemed there was always somebody watching me. If I visited with a boy on the front porch, baby sister would announce each detail at the breakfast table like the morning news. Is this how God was teaching me to live in the world as a Christian? Because now I realize there is always someone watching, whether it is our children, neighbors, coworkers, or just people on the street. The choices I make, in words, actions, demeanor, how I deal others,
can either reflect the light of the God into the world, or block it out.
God, keep watch over me and help me be unafraid to shine my light into dark places in the world, so your glory will be reflected in all I do. Amen.
