“When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial but rescue us from the evil one.”
One of my fondest childhood memories is of my father putting me to bed each night and teaching me the Lord’s Prayer. He would tuck me in, then say a phrase which I would
repeat. Eventually, we said the prayer together before I went to sleep. What a wonderful way to teach such a special prayer to a child.
LORD, HELP US TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN ABOUT YOU. SHOW US THAT THROUGH OUR INSTRUCTION THEY GAIN THE KNOWLEDGE TO LIVE A CHRISTIAN LIFE. AND LORD, HELP THEM TO PASS THIS KNOWLEDGE ON TO OTHERS, JUST AS OUR PARENTS, AS WELL AS OTHER FELLOW CHRISTIANS, HAVE SHARED YOUR WISDOM WITH US. AMEN.
