“Now we see only reflections in a mirror, mere riddles, but then we shall be seeing face to face. Now I can know only imperfectly; but then I shall know just as fully as I am myself known.”

Some moments are “Divine Chocolates” … How does one describe moments of clarity those prisms of perfection? Who knows which moments in a life are transcendent? We anticipate some of them: a wedding day, the birth of our children, a long awaited graduation… but often these expected days are outshone by the simple, ordinary and unexpected. One of those simply perfect days was brought back
to me recently. Late one Spring, our Youth Group organized a car wash and many of the people of the church came to help. As a 13-year old, I had no idea what a gift it was to have them there. They did not know how blessed I would be 25 years later, when I realized how important ordinary days might be to the Kingdom of Heaven. As a human, it is hard to wrap myself around that idea. It is daunting to take responsibility. At times, it is very tempting to think that the little we do doesn’t really matter. However, I believe that, every now and then, God likes to pass around the chocolate box.

LORD, LIKE A MIRROR, MY PLACE IN TIME DISTORTS MY POSITION AND PURPOSE. I CANNOT SEE, FOR MY VISION IS DIM. EVEN WHEN THE GLASS IS CLEAR, THE BIG PICTURE IS NOT UNBENT. KEEP MY INNER EYES BRIGHT AND EAGER SO THAT I MAY SEE THE PAST AND FUTURE TOGETHER IN THE PRESENT. HELP ME TO LIVE EACH DAY AS IF IT REALLY MATTERS, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT, IN A WORLD IN NEED OF HOPE, IT ALL MATTERS. THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT CLOUD OF WITNESSES. THANK YOU FOR THE DIVINE CHOCOLATES. I LIKE THE TASTE OF THEM. AMEN.
