“But remember this – the wrong desires that come into your life aren’t anything new and different. Many others have faced exactly the same problems before you. And no temptation is irresistible. You can trust God to keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it, for He has promised this and will do what He says. He will show you how to escape temptation’s power so that you can bear up patiently against it”

Recently I went on a week-long backpacking trip in the Sierra Mountains. The trip proved to be a very challenging experience for me in many ways. I missed the comforts of home, and hiking 40 miles with a 30 pound backpack is not exactly how I envision a vacation. The first
freezing night out under the stars, I really wondered what I had gotten myself into. I knew there was no going back and a lot of hard work ahead of me. I called on this scripture several times during my journey to remind myself that although I was very tempted to quit, this was
a situation I could handle because God promised not to give me more than I could bear. It is comforting to realize that God knows every challenge and every temptation that we face. “He will not give us more than we can handle, and He will always provide a way for us to
overcome those temptations, and “…bear up patiently against them”.

DEAR GOD, PLEASE HELP ME HEAR YOU TODAY. HELP ME TO TRUST THAT YOU KNOW WHAT I AM FACING AND WITH YOUR HELP, LET ME STAND UP AGAINST THE TEMPTATION, WHATEVER IT MIGHT BE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GRACE AND
STRENGTH. AMEN.
