“We have this hope as an anchor for our lives. It is safe and sure, and goes through the curtain of the heavenly temple… On our behalf Jesus has gone in there before us.”
In The Junction Boys, there is an account of football great Gene Stallings riding out hurricane Audrey on an oil barge in the Gulf of Mexico. Had it not been for the anchor getting caught in the legs of the oil rig, he and those with him would have perished. Have you ever thrown an anchor overboard only to realize too late that the rope isn’t tied to your boat? The anchor’s out there, but you’re not attached! We often panic needlessly and drift when we get into “deep water.” We can either secure our lifeline to the one true anchor and “hang on” or remain adrift, being tossed to and fro by the waves of life. The Anchor’s out there!
DEAR GOD, KEEP US FIRMLY ATTACHED TO YOUR SON, OUR SAFE AND SURE ANCHOR, IN WHOSE NAME WE PRAY. AMEN.
