“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.”
Why is it so difficult to remember that He is there for me? Why do I fight Him for control over my life when in reality all I really, truly know about tomorrow is that Westheimer will probably still be there? Beyond limited sight the way my life runs day to day is truly beyond my control. He is the one that’s driving – not me. I always get caught up thinking that everything in life is there because of my doing. Often the only time I turn to God is when I have exhausted myself and feel helpless, forgetting that He has been there all the while watching and waiting patiently for me to ask for His help. I’ve always been told that “Whatever I get in life is entirely up to me”. Not only is the weight of that statement an incredibly heavy one to bear, but it’s completely false. In the still of a moment, if I am quiet and listen, I will hear His message and know that He has not forgotten me. He just has a different concept of time than I do. It is such a relief to know and trust in God.AMEN.
